Brooklyn Landmark
St. George’s Protestant Episcopal Church in the Bedford section of Brooklyn is one of New York City’s distinguished Victorian Gothic structures. On the basis of a careful consideration of the history, the architecture, and other features of this building, the Landmarks Preservation Commission finds that St. George’s Protestant Episcopal Church as a special character, special historical and aesthetic interest, and value as part of the development, heritage, and cultural characteristics of New York City. Uncovering Parish Histories
St. George’s is participating in the Uncovering Parish Histories project initiated by the Diocese of Long Island. The Diocesan Historian in Residence for Racial Justice supports congregations looking into the history of their involvement with slavery, the slavery-driven economy, anti-slavery and abolition movements, and later forms of racial justice or injustice.
